for the two of them as solo artist to be followed
by there new discography as Choy.
Sébastièn
Sébastièn born and raised in Rotterdam,
The Netherlands has had an interest with music since
an early age and has had many influences throughout
his musical career. At the age of four he started
to play with keyboards and at the age of seven he
learned how to play the organ. After years of studying
and playing the keyboards and the organ he was introduced
to his first synthesizer and guitar. This was an exciting
time for Sébastièn as he now was expanding
his musical talent and venturing off to the electronic
sound but before he would fully immerse himself into
any type of genre he learned to play the drums at
the age of seventeen. He now possessed a wide range
of sound and years later he would implement every
avenue he knew to create his own tunes.
He was off to Conservatoire in Rotterdam and with
him he took all his musical talent but he still wanted
to pick up another sound and he started to study the
electric guitar when he was twenty-two. To make it
even more interesting he even started to mess with
the bass guitar. While studying these two new sounds
he realized that he was more interested in writing
and producing his own material.
He started work on his own R&B album “On
Que” with his group X-Change at the age of twenty-six.
Working on this project opened several doors for him
in the house scene. Meeting Olav Basoski was one of
the doors. He started to create remixes with Olav
for such acts as: Smashmouth and Funky Green Dogs.
These remixes had great success and further exposed
him to the musical world. The two of them also created
the hit record “Duende” for Samplitude
Volume 11.
With everything that he has learned and developed
he still credits his influences at an early age for
the wide range of sound he possess. He first found
his roots with American Soul such as Stevie Wonder,
Michael Jackson and Prince. Then Miss Ella Fitzgerald
is queen to him for jazz. As for composers he admires
George Gershwin, Cole Porter, Leonard Bernstein, George
Bizet, Maurice Ravel, Ludwig Von Beethoven. To lists
all his influences would take quite some time but
he can say that he thanks all of them and hopes that
one day you will enjoy his tunes as much as he has
dedicated to each one of them.
Peter
Peter was born and raised in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Peter’s interest in music was apparent at a
early age as he would play with his grandfathers harmonica.
His liking to the harmonica was contributed to the
many years of his grandfather playing it. His musical
interest, at the age of twelve, lead him to start
playing with two cassette players and start recording
live sets mixed only by using the record and pause
button. Onto the age of fourteen were Peter started
to DJ at local events and at his school. From the
money earned at these events he was able to purchase
himself a proper mixer and turntables.
At the age of eighteen he bought his first sampler
an Akai S700. Combine that with an Atari computer
and a Roland 505 drum computer he started to make
simple house music. Working with what he presently
had was inspiring Peter to dedicate more time in the
process of musical compositions.
He started to produce background music for several
companies and that open the door for him to work at
a radio station in the evenings. He was starting to
work with famous singers in the Netherlands. Working
with the singers was giving him the stimulation he
wanted to receive in the musical field.
Onto the age of 486 pc Computer where Peter purchased
one with a Gravis soundcard to make his first mixes
which were going to be released. It has been no looking
back since then, of course he has upgraded since the
486 but the man that won the Michael Jackson mega-mix
never learned to play any traditional instruments.
Utilizing his computers to the fullest ability. |
