Madame Mercury, west coast breaks dj, has been a dj in the San Francisco underground dance scene since 1996. She has a passion for break beats and has been supporting them since her professional debut. Madame Mercury discovered her love for funky break beats and electro dancing at the raves of the mid 1990’s admiring the likes of DJ Dan, Simply Jeff, DJ Voodoo, Uberzone and Icey as well as San Francisco’s own local underground breaks djs. She took this admiration and taught herself how to spin as well as coordinating with her LiquidMercury group to produce events focusing on the break beat sound.

After receiving her B.A. in industrial arts and computer graphics, she soon released a few underground mix tapes and began entertaining both underground audiences as well as those at San Francisco’s largest dance events. Then, along with the start of her promo CD series “UPS” (underground promo series) and a new MadameMercury.com website, she began DJing not only throughout the San Francisco bay area but also in the clubs and all night dance parties across the U.S. and even up to Canada.

She did not stop here but moved forward to release her album “Alive” and single “Rhythm Rock” on Streetbeat records. Shortly after this she launched her Mad Wax record label and began working with fellow local artists and releasing her own works. She then joined with local booking agency, The Agency San Francisco, to help her with her bookings. She also continued to throw now larger all night dance events still focusing on the break beat sound under the LiquidMercury name.

The year 2002 brought Madame Mercury to work with Tascam on the release of their line of dj equipment as well as holding a residency and coordinating her own monthly (5 star funk) with San Francisco’s largest club, Ten15 (host of Spundae). That summer amidst the many bookings and her career taking off, the scene and economy slumped and things were not what they used to be. By September Madame takes time out for an unknown amount of time, if she'd be back no one knew, and she thought she'd never be back. However, in her time off, amidst much soul searching and seeing what life was like without the music, she came to realize that she truly does love the music and that this is her path in life. Thus....

Enter 2003 Madame Mercury is back and stronger than ever. Slamming down her new mix CD “I Wanna Dance” and playing across the country and in Europe, she was quickly back into the swing of things. She teamed up with DJ Whatt and they created EMUOR (Electronic Music Under One Roof). EMUOR will finally give her the outlet that she has always wanted to let the world know that break beats is a global language that should be spoken and heard by all.
